Carter Notch is a steep-sided notch in the eastern White Mountains of New Hampshire where the Appalachian Trail crosses from Wildcat Mountain to Carter Dome. The notch contains two small ponds, as well as a field of large boulders, known as the Ramparts, which have fallen down the sides of the notch.
- Nineteen Mile Brook Trail: the most common route to the notch, starting from Route 16 in Pinkham Notch (3.8 miles; 1,900 feet elevation gain)
- Wildcat River Trail: approaches the notch from the south, starting at Carter Notch Road (4.3 miles; 1,550 elevation gain)
